Note 3 - The Weight of Pretence

Updated: Sep 3

It feels as though I am seated in a vast theatre. The curtains are drawn, and the light is dim. There is dance, there are dancers, and the music flows. The audience sits divided. Some surrender fully, moved with joy, while others hesitate, restless, searching for a way to escape.

The Dance of Life

The rhythm of the play rises and falls like a storm outside. Clouds gather, winds carry the music, trees sway, and peacocks spread their wings. Raindrops strike in shimmering cadence, and thunder beats like a hidden drum. Some souls leap into the downpour, alive in its madness; others withdraw to their shelters, like recluses taming the wild senses within.

The Man with the Umbrella

On the road, a man walks with an umbrella in hand. Yet he is drenched. Someone asks, “Why don’t you open it?” He replies, “There is a hole in it. To open it is pointless.” Then comes the second question: “Then why carry it at all?” The man, with quiet simplicity, says, “So that people will not think I am without one.”

Such is the innocence of nature—honest, unmasked, and free from the burden of pretense. And such is the weakness of man—clinging to appearances, hiding truth, and weighed down by ego and insecurity. We drift at the edges of life, far from its core.

The Illusion of Protection

Religion too has become like that umbrella—kept only for show, filled with holes carved by sects and divisions. What protection can such a thing give? What shelter can it offer? None.

Returning to the Heart

The way is not to carry such broken symbols but to set them down. Not to wander further, but to return—to the nest we abandoned, to the heart we left behind. There, beyond pretense and illusion, truth still waits. And in that return, the rain no longer soaks us—it cleanses.

Finding Inner Peace

In this journey, we seek inner peace. It is not a destination but a state of being. We can find it through meditation and mindfulness. These practices help us connect with our true selves. They allow us to embrace the present moment, free from distractions.

The Power of Meditation

Meditation is a powerful tool for stress relief. It helps calm the mind and soothe the spirit. When we meditate, we create a space for ourselves. This space allows us to breathe, reflect, and simply be. It is a sanctuary amidst the chaos of life.

Embracing the Present

Living in the present is essential for our well-being. We often get caught up in worries about the future or regrets from the past. But the present moment is where life unfolds. It is where we can find joy, peace, and clarity.

The Journey Within

As we embark on this journey within, we discover layers of ourselves. We peel back the masks we wear. We confront our fears and insecurities. This process can be challenging, but it is also liberating.

Awakening Spiritual Potential

Through meditation, we awaken our spiritual potential. We connect with something greater than ourselves. This connection brings a sense of purpose and belonging. It reminds us that we are part of a larger tapestry of life.

Conclusion

In the end, we must let go of the broken symbols we carry. We must return to our hearts and embrace the truth within. The rain will cleanse us, and we will emerge renewed.

Let us remember that the journey to inner peace is not a solitary one. We can support each other along the way. Together, we can create a community that values authenticity, compassion, and growth.

And so, I invite you to join me on this path. Let us explore the depths of our being and discover the beauty that lies within.
